ABOUT THIS SONG This was such a fun song to create. I felt like I knew this bunch of likable lads. They were Jesus' posse, His homeys, His entourage, the ones being groomed to take over this mission when He was gone. There was an urgency. He gathered them with all of their talents and their foibles, each one Celestially hand-picked to walk that road with Jesus.Their personalities became the perfect support group for Jesus, providing a remarkable cross section of human personalities. They would later be analyzed for their roles and their character...and rightly so. This is a bouncy, Greek style song that hints of a bunch of good friends, comrades in robes, aligned by destiny to do what must be done. They are serious, frivolous, tentative, courageous, willing, hesitant...just like you and me in our varied moments of living. They were fully committed to the ride, wherever it led. Yet, I do not think they ever thought it would end up the way it did...even though Jesus prepared them for such an unfoldment. Jesus taught them, he loved them, He died for them..we all walk with Jesus, we listen talk with Jesus, He's the Son of God, the Son God...and what we learn from Jesus, there's so much we learn from Jesus, says we're all from God, we live in God... In the end there are inside jokes they share from the intensity of their journey...today he talked in Galilee, healed a man of leprosy, turned the water into wine, we had a fine time.... a band of brothers all along this profound journey...miracles about...they turn into common occurrences for the 12, and as the song concludes, they ride off into the Celestial sunset, fading into the arms of history, headed for a tumultuous 2000 years that lie ahead...heal the sick, raise the dead, preach a lesson, what a stress it is, I wouldn't change it, I walk with Jesus... simply a day in the life of an Apostle. |
