ABOUT THIS SONG During the early 90's, I was Music Director at Unity Church of San Luis Obispo, California. The church and the music program were vibrant, inspiring, and powerful. People and organizations were often approaching me to write songs for them. A group called World Neighbors, which teaches third world peoples new farming techniques to assist them in creating more sustainable food sources, contacted me, and I accepted the opportunity to create a theme song for them. I trusted guidance and created this song in E minor, centered in the Throat Chakra with a touch of Solar Plexus, to set forth the strong intention of this group to change the world. I gave it more of a percussive, ethnic beat and crafted a melody that rose and fell like the mountains of Peru. It was inspiring in lyric and had a soaring chorus, one that I have always enjoyed hearing and singing. My then wife, Erin, and I provided the vocals and harmonies. The group loved it, but it went nowhere on the national level...so be it. I still think it is a great song, and can be used by anyone to inspire conscious action. So use it...and take action to make the changes you see necessary. |
