Attendee Feedback:
"This presentation blew me away! I thought I had a good idea of autism but this presentation made me realize how little I actually knew about it. The resources are great. I can‘t wait to help my patients with autism."
"Highly educational, great examples for neurotypical folks to understand better how a neurodivergent brain operates."
"This presentation spoke to the humanity of medicine - beginning to untangle the colonialization tendencies of diagnosis and othering while bringing grounded information to help providers identify neurodiversity for the benefit of the patient and the access to tools which support their physiology."

PRESENTATION DESCRIPTION:
This webinar provides a comprehensive look at Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in adults, focusing on diagnostic nuances, common presentations, and supportive strategies. We’ll examine the DSM criteria and how individuals, particularly those who “mask” traits, may meet the criteria in varying ways. Misdiagnoses, such as anxiety, OCD, and bipolar disorder, are common in autistic individuals, and we’ll discuss how to distinguish ASD from these conditions. Attendees will learn about helpful screening tools, the benefits and limitations of formal evaluations, and strategies for making referrals. Additionally, we’ll review co-occurring conditions like Ehlers-Danlos syndrome (EDS) and mast cell activation syndrome (MCAS) and explore behavioral, herbal, and pharmaceutical approaches to support autistic patients across their lifespan. This session aims to equip clinicians with effective methods for identifying and supporting autistic adults in their practice.
