Course Overview:

Autoimmunity is a rapidly growing spectrum of illness in the western world. Opiate receptors have been found to influence the function of antibody receptors. Naltrexone is an opiate receptor antagonist that when used in a low dose format offers the potential of positively altering immune function. Dr. Arata will discuss low dose naltrexone (LDN) as it relates to pharmacology, research findings and clinical application for immune related conditions.

Biography:

Michael Arata, MD is a graduate of UCSF School of Medicine and completed his four year residency at Duke University Medical Center. After completing an Interventional Radiology fellowship at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, Dr. Arata became board certified in Interventional Radiology as well as Venous and Lymphatic Medicine. He has completed training and passed the IFM certification exam in Functional Medicine. Low dose naltrexone is a common treatment in his autonomic dysfunction program where approximately 1000 patients have been treated.
