Presentation Description:
Mitochondrial dysfunction is connected with many medical conditions, including depression, bipolarity, ADHD, autism, and OCD. It can also be the source of unexplained hyperglycemia, inflammation, heavy metal toxicity, and mold. In this presentation, Dr. Bongiorno will review ideal clinical intake questions and laboratory testing to identify and diagnose mitochondrial dysfunction. There will be a discussion on evidence based lifestyle, food, and natural therapies that will help heal the mitochondria and therefore the whole person, that the practitioner can implement immediately.

Goals and Objectives

1. Understand the key evidence that shows mitochondrial dysfunction as a contributor to mood disorder and mental illness.

2. Learn the basics of how the mitochondria creates energy and keeps the nervous system healthy.

3. Review environmental toxins and the role these play in creating unhealthy mitochondria.

4. Learn how to best assess mitochondrial dysfunction using clinical intake and laboratory testing.

5. Learn which evidenced based lifestyle, food, and natural therapies can help heal the mitochondria.
