Todd Born, ND, CNS

Originally Presented: Dec. 2020

Course Overview

Mood disorders are mental health issues that primarily affect a person’s emotional state in which a person experiences long periods of extreme happiness, extreme sadness, or both. 21.4% of U.S. adults will experience a mood disorder at some point in their lives. In 2008, the WHO ranked major depression as the third leading cause of burden of disease worldwide and projected that the disease will rank first by 2030.

Due to the variety of patient presentations, the unpredictable course and prognosis of mood disorders, and the inconsistent responses to treatment, clinicians are also challenged in terms of diagnosis and management.

In this webinar, Dr. Todd Born will educate attendees how to thoroughly evaluate evidence and clinically based interventions to improve patients' outcomes and attempt to get their lives back.

After the presentation, participants will be able to confidently:

1.    Understand the etiology, risk factors, and genetics of mood disorders.

2.    Understand the epidemiology of mood disorders and their cost burden on the healthcare system.

3.    Understand the types of pharmaceutical interventions often prescribed for mood disorders.

4.    Utilize strategies to support a healthy mood and energy levels:

a.    Diet & Lifestyle

b.    Homeopathy

c.     Nutrients (vitamins, minerals and amino acids)

d.    Botanicals

e.    Hormones
