Course Overview
Hormone replacement is a controversial issue in medicine today. Our patients are frequently placed under the “standard of care” umbrella, and withheld from hormonal therapies due to the possibility of associated risks. This lecture will cover the initiation of bio-identical hormone (bHRT) replacement as well as evidence-based prescribing for pre and post-menopausal patients. Clinicians will learn how to address potential side effects of bHRT and be comfortable prescribing bHRT for specific endocrine disorders including endometriosis, PMS, PMDD, PCOS, fibroids and osteoporosis. Controversies associated with bHRT like post-menopausal breakthrough bleeding and breast cancer will also be discussed.
Attend this presentation to confidently:
Determine evidence-based dosing, appropriate route of applications and indications for initiating
BHRT in a pre and post-menopausal female
Understand how to transition from one hormone regimen to another
Understand how and when to monitor patients on BHRT
Understand when to discontinue BHRT
Modify therapy in post-menopausal female on BHRT who experience breakthrough bleeding
Prescribe evidence-based BHRT in patients with endometriosis, fibroids, endometriosis, PCOS,
PMS, and PMDD
