Rethinking MS: Targeted naturopathic strategies to uplevel your treatment plans for Multiple Sclerosis
by Heidi Weinhold, ND
Presentation Description:
Multiple sclerosis affects more than 1 million people living in the United States and currently has no known cure. Naturopathic medicine provides many modalities to help reduce inflammation, modulate immune function, increase mobility, reduce stress, and improve the quality of life of those living with MS. Dr. Weinhold will discuss how naturopathic physicians can help support MS patients utilizing diet, lifestyle management, botanical medicine, nutraceuticals, and homeopathic medicine. She will share case studies and some clinical pearls that can be implemented into clinical practice.
Goals and Objectives:
After the presentation, participants will be able to confidently:
1. Review Conventional Treatment Therapies for MS and common side effects.
2. Review the Role of Nutrition and Specialized Therapeutic Diets to help increase BDNF and to help decrease neuroinflammation.
3. Review the role of Botanical and Homeopathic Medicine to help mitigate inflammation and modulate the immune system.
Putting the Breaks on GI Pain: Sulfur for the Treatment of Gas and Bloating by Kathleen Janel, ND
by Kathleen Janel, ND
Presentation Description:
Sulfur may be the most unknown, natural and highly successful treatment option for gassy bloating of SIBO / SIFO and IBS disorders. Dr. Stefanie Seneff, research PhD at MIT, concludes that “sulfur is the most common nutritional deficiency that you’ve never heard of”. Over the past 25 years, we have amassed hundreds of successful case studies using sulfur therapy for the treatment of gas and bloating in SIBO/SIFO and IBS dysbiosis. We do not use antibiotics to treat SIBO and yet have successful and permanent symptom resolution. Often these patients have been through one or more courses of Xifaxan, erythromycin, metronidazole or other antimicrobial treatment. Their symptoms improve and then return. I would like to present a natural option for GI disorders by providing several case studies including SIBO, SIFO, Dysbiosis and IBS patients, along with treatment protocols.
Goals and Objectives:
1. Understand the role of sulfur as a structural and repair element in flexible tissue.
2. Understand the role of sulfur as an antimicrobial and antifungal agent.
3. Utilize non-pharmaceutical treatment of gas and bloating in IBS / SIBO / SIFO and dysbiosis.
4. Understand the role of glyphosate in the interruption of the sulfur cycle.
5. Review studies on the successful use of sulfur for SIBO / IBS symptoms.
Coming of Age: Creating a Revolutionary Game Plan for Every Stage of Life" by Shannon Sinsheimer, ND
by Shannon Sinsheimer, ND
Presentation Description:
As primary care doctors, we need to be able to communicate more effectively to patients based on their stage of life. It is important to support human development through life stages rather than solely on disease and have a problem focused approach from preconception health to geriatrics. In this presentation, Dr. Sinsheimer will discuss treatment guidelines will be given for 4 distinct points of change in the human life span with an outline on techniques to drive a discussion on human development. She will then present a series of case studies on preconception, midlife, and geriatric health.
Goals and Objectives:
1. Communicate more effectively to patients based on their stage of life.
2. Support human development through life stages rather than solely disease and problem focused approach from preconception health to geriatrics.
3. Understand case study examples of problem focused events that lead to opportunity for deeper human, mind, and spirit developments.
4. Create action oriented plans, supplement, nutrition protocols and pointed questions based on stage of life that advances treatment guidance.
5. Utilize genetic marker evaluations to address what is nature vs nurture in personal human development.
