Course Overview:
Most clinicians report that gastrointestinal complaints are very common in our society. Many patients are given diagnoses like “irritable bowel syndrome” when no clear diagnosis can be made. This presentation is designed to help clinicians screen for small intestinal bacterial overgrowth while emphasizing the strengths and weaknesses of hydrogen and methane breath testing. Conventional, naturopathic and integrative evidence-based treatment protocols will be reviewed in detail. Dr. Rinde will also review valuable clinical pearls for patients who are methane producers and several case studies will be provided.

Attend this presentation to confidently:

  • Recognize and diagnose SIBO while understanding strengths and weaknesses of various testing methods.
  • Understand SIBO in the framework of the mind-gut-immune-endocrine connection.
  • Understand the latest conventional treatment approaches.
  • Prescribe evidence-based naturopathic and integrative treatments for SIBO.
Biography
Adam Rinde, ND is a licensed Naturopathic Physician with a special interest in Enteroimmunology— the relationship between the gut, mind, immune, and endocrine systems. His awareness of Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth stemmed from a complex case of IBS which he treated for SIBO which resolved in a dramatic fashion. This sparked a desire to learn, apply, and refine approaches to functional gastrointestinal disease. He is a 2006 graduate of Bastyr University and also completed his residency at the Bastyr Center of Natural Health where he continued as adjunct clinical faculty from 2007 through 2011. He is the owner and physician at his private practice called Sound Integrative Health in Kirkland, Washington which he has operated since 2007. He is a member of the AANP, WANP, and Institute of Functional Medicine.
