Webinar Description Various Approaches for the Treatment of Cholesterol Abnormalities
A discussion on the role of pharmaceuticals for the treatment of hypercholesterolemia and offer some alternatives and to understand the controversy regarding whether or not hypercholesterolemia is an important cause of cardiovascular disease. Participants should also become more knowledgeable about lowering elevated serum cholesterol and LDL-cholesterol levels and also raising HDL-cholesterol levels, through dietary modifications and nutritional supplements (red yeast rice, pantethine, niacin, thyroid hormone, and policosanol).
Drug-Induced Nutrients Depletions
A review of the clinical significance of Drug-Inducted Nutrient Depletions and how they can negatively affect the status of nutrients in the body. Many of the side effects from drug therapy may not be directly due to the drug itself, but rather are a result of nutritional deficiencies that are caused by the drug over time. This presentation gives healthcare professionals referenced information on the ways that drugs affect nutrient status in the body and the mechanisms responsible for the depletion of nutrients which include inhibition of nutrient absorption, synthesis, transport, storage, metabolism, and excretion.
