Course Overview
Our patients' skin can be a key indicator of imbalances occurring within the endocrine system. For example, we often see dry skin in hypothyroidism, skin tags in insulin-resistance, and acne with polycystic ovary syndrome. In my private practice and work within spas, I am aware of the sensitivity patients have of their skin appearance. I find that balancing hormones is a major factor in addressing the underlying cause of skin disorders. In this presentation I will focus on acne and how a naturopathic approach can treat acne and avoid further health complications.
 
After the presentation, participants will be able to confidently:

• Understand the effect of hormones on pathogenesis and management of acne.
• Know how to identify underlying causes for acne to help focus treatment.
• Be familiar with current conventional treatments for acne and the methodology.
• Recognize side effects of conventional treatments for acne and when another treatment approach is necessary.
• Identify naturopathic and holistic approaches to effectively treat acne, with a focus on endocrine balance.
