Course Overview
The changes in rules for pharmacies and physician offices with regard to compounded medications, sterile and non-sterile products have been occurring quickly over the past few years.  In this environment the need for updated and reliable information has been great but also difficult to come by as the rules seem to shift often.   The purpose of this presentation is to update the healthcare provider in regard to the primary rules involved in medical practice and consolidate the laws and rules we need to observe but also set a goal for best clinical practices for enhanced patient safety.

After the presentation, participants will be able to confidently:

• Know when they need to use a compounding hood and how to do that correctly
• Describe what the FDA and USP are and their roles in regulatory rules for the physician office
• Be able to relate the difference in 503(a) and 503(b) and their relevance to the physician
• Define what is required for sterile office compounding equipment
• Define the rules germane to the use of such equipment
• Describe the current nature of office use compounding rules for the physician office and the tenuous nature of those rules.

Biography
Paul Anderson, N.M.D. is CEO of the Anderson Medical Group and Medical Director of Anderson Medical Specialty Associates, a clinic focusing on the care of patients with cancer, chronic diseases and complicated medical presentations. He brings over two decades of medical training and experience together to allow his clinical and educational presence to grow and serve patients and physicians in the best way possible. Dr. Anderson is former Chief of IV (intravenous therapy) Services for Bastyr Oncology Research Center and a past Professor at Bastyr University where he continues to serve as a research Full Professor. He is a graduate of National College of Naturopathic Medicine in Portland, Oregon and began instructing classes at naturopathic medical schools in the early 1990’s.  Additionally he is a medical author and speaks in many continuing medical education courses and events. He is extending his medical education mission through the CE site ‘ConsultDrA.com’ a web based educational platform.
