ABOUT THIS SONG In the early 90's when the Unity of San Luis Obispo, CA was hopping with large congregations, we used to get a parade of New Thought authors come through who wanted to speak. Often, I would sing for their talk. Sometimes I even wrote a song for them, as I did for Deepak Chopra, Marianne Williamson, Wayne Dyer, and Joan Borysenko. Fire in the Soul. It was the title of Joan's most known work at the time. I shared it with her at a particular event and she enjoyed it, not enough to want to use it, though. I was working up to finding someone of this ilk who was open to using music as a companion vehicle to put their content and ideas into song. At this time, most were solo in their talks with an occasional keyboardist who would provide some non-invasive meditative music before or during the talk. What I was proposing was a bit of a cutting edge thing, but I had already discovered that songs I wrote for my own events would be powerful vehicles to imbed the content into the audience. I thought that there would be some author of renown who would be open to this kind of arrangement and support. Most were not, until I met future Hay House author, Sonia Choquette. |
