ABOUT THIS SONG
I have spent many Summers over the last 20 years in musical support of children's camps over the USA throughout the Unity Movement. They have been a delight for one who never went to camp as a boy. Often these camps have a theme and I was invited to create music that would support that theme, if I had not created it already. One such camp was in the Northern California wine country at a camp called Valley of the Moon. It was nestled in the redwood grove in the hills above the Napa Valley. The camp had long ago been a retreat space for Hollywood types. For several years it was frequented by Clark Gable and Carol Lombard. A cabin still stood and was used that carried the name the Gable Cabin. I would like to say it was pretty special...maybe at the time Clark and Carol used it...but it was heading South at a rather fast clip by the time I lodged there..
The bed was likely the one they had slept in. Sometimes I would awake in the middle of the night , whispering over and over, "Frankly, my dear, I don't give a damn!"...or not...
The camp was in some disrepair but it had a lovely Earth vibe and was watched over by this outstanding grove of majestic Redwoods reaching for the heavens. One Summer I was informed of a theme that was following the Monty Python, Life of Brian, movie. Now, I was more of an In Search of the Holy Grail kind of a guy...but I checked this one out and recognized the song, Always Look on the Bright Side of Life". So, I took the feel and the root chakra key of C and rewrote... simply celebrated the sunshine that washed down on the camp most of the days. And since we were a positive group I used the sun to represent the Light that fed us all...all of the time...
I have always been a person filled with optimism, knowing that despite the current forms, things would eventually work out...and they did. So, I built that sentiment into the song. In this frequency we create our own personal world of peace full moments. This song has become a big hit in the camps and also with adults. It is an affirmation of how good it really is...so sing it and remember how things will always work out...no matter what.
SONG LYRICS: SUNSHINE
Every step I take is the best one
Every move I make
Is the best one
Life will keep a rollin’
If I just keep a-knowin’
That I’m always on
the bright side
The sunny light side
Sunshine I’m always in
Sunshine I make my own
Sunshine Ahh aah
